The party get supplies for a 10 day trip into Grishbalan. Adaly also wants to visit the alchemist because she wants to later on acquire Leviathan blood, for which she needs a alchemically purified silver flask.
They enter the shop and an elder man kindly greets them “So what can you make?” Amara asks while Adaly is looking around “You name it young lady and I will make it.” “Can you make potions of speed?” Amara excitedly asks, and the man starts laughing “Of course, dear. How many do you need?” Amara looks at Adaly, and Adaly just lifts her shoulders “Let’s make it three” the man nods, “Anything else?” Adaly now joins them “Yes I was wondering if you have a purified silver flask”
The man turns around and rumbles a bit behind the desk “Like this?” he raises a flask exactly as she needs, and Adaly nods her head “Great, so this one is just ready, the potions of speed will be done on the 7th of Frostfall” they nod in agreement, make a down payment and leave.
The party gets back into the archeologist guild and turn Heskeni invisible while walking towards the teleportation hall, ensuring that she is not killed by who ever she owes money too. Adaly herself has experience with the criminals in Vasovik, they can be extremely nasty.
They teleport to Eskorban, seeing as that would be the easiest to travel from, but decide to spend one more night in the comforts of an inn rather then risk it in the cursed lands of Grishbalan. They are not exactly sure what they can expect or how close they need to get before the curse is visible, but the necromantic energy that got released during the fall of the Grishbalan is the stuff of legends. Skeletal creatures, wraiths, any nastiness off the shadow fell. This will be a hard trip.
Sitting in her chamber Adaly cast devils eyes on her blood vials, seeing what her enemies are seeing. She first connects to Es-Grenalieth, who is in some kind of library. She dispels an illusion and the bookcase is filled with books in infernal, which is illegal in most countries. She picks up the book and starts reading. Adaly switches to the female tiefling she has the blood off, who is sleeping. Finally she switches to Valziar. He has his eyes closed, however she can hear him talking to an unknown person. In the conversation Valziar mentions the party is in Eskorban.
Adaly sits up looks at the rest of the party “They know where we are.” “Who and how?” Amara reacts while the rest of the party just looks surprised at her. “The black tieflings, how I am not sure, maybe the stab Livia told us about…” Adaly replies. “But… the necklace should protect me…” Livia says, while Adaly already knows that the necklace does in fact not protect her from the spell she casts.
Adaly takes off and unattunes to her own necklace giving it to Livia “Just in case, wear this one. I know this one protects” Livia nods in gratitude and puts on the necklace. “How do you know of this?” Sam asks and Adaly just subtly show him the blood vial she was using to spy on her enemies.
Sam looks surprised, but in understanding. Blood magic being highly illegal in many countries she is taking a risk showing them, but seeing as they travel together and she likes spying on her enemies he will find out anyway. They set up a watch rotation, but go to sleep anyway. There is not that much they can do to prevent the tieflings from coming to Eskorban.
Adaly wakes up early and Livia is missing from the room. Adaly climbs up to the roof where Livia is sitting. “Good morning, how are you doing?” Adaly asks kindly. “Good morning” Livia responds while looking at the sunrise. “We could test my theory, you know…. Check if your necklace blocks the blood magic” Adaly says while taking out her ritual dagger and an empty blood vial.
Livia looks surprised at her “Now why would I give you my blood?” Adaly chuckles kindly “I wouldn’t keep it, you will be able to look at it the whole time. After the spell I will give it to you, and you can destroy it” Livia hesitantly looks at her “Will it hurt?” Adaly kindly smiles “Not one bit” Livia nods in agreement and Adaly attaches the bloodvial to her dagger and gently stabs Livia.
“See it wasn’t that bad” Adaly smiles. “Now I will cast my spell and it will not do anything, because my necklace is specifically designed to keep this kind of magic out. So you should first unattune to my necklace” Livia nods once more. Once Livia indicates she can go ahead Adaly casts her spell and it finds it’s mark, Adaly seeing herself back through Livia’s eyes “So, your necklace, even though magically protecting you, doesn’t protect you against this. Please reattune to my necklace and then you should be fine” Adaly ends the spell and hands Livia her blood vial. Livia quickly smashes it and says “Thank you…”
They meet up with the rest from the party, and Adaly can see the judgement in Sam’s face when Livia tells him what they did. When Sam gives her a stare, she just shrugs her shoulders. They leave town, a bit quietly, trying to avoid the ebony guard if they came here. While walking through the streets a frightened man approaches them, specifically walking towards Adaly. Adaly spots a hidden knife and immediately turns invisible.
Before others can react the man stabs himself in the chest and blood begins to drain from is body levitating in a pool above his body the blood slowly starts transforming into a black pearl. A horrifying screech from the dying man while he falls over saying
“You have been worthy prey, but sadly, our little game must end now. Take this gift as a token of my appreciation.” Adaly recognizes Es-Ihiroketh’s voice and quickly grabs the pearl.
Guards rushing in demanding an explanation. Adaly not in the mood to try to explain the random blood cloud, just cast Darkness and leads the party outside of the city. They quickly go to sit on the wyverns and take off, making it impossible for the guards to keep following.
