They continue their research until lunch. Amara enters a bit later and shoos the skeletons away. Adaly looks surprised at her friend when a few moments later a skeletal head floats up into the room.
Amara sighs and says “This is Archibald…” and the floating head immediately objects “Amadeus Archibald Winfred Clairmant the fourth. Pleasure to make your acquaintance” Adaly walks closer, looking first at Amara who just raises her shoulders and then she looks at Amadeus. “Hello Amadeus, I am Adaly, what is the meaning of this?”
“Ah good question, you already have better manners than the brut half orc. I would love your help with the predicament I am in. As you can see, I am just a floating skull.” Amadeus answers and Adaly chuckles a bit, which she can see annoys him “And why would we help you?” she asks and then the skull continues.
“Well, no need to be rude, I know you are researching, I have many millennia of experience here, I can help you find what you need. But only if you help me of course…” Adaly looks at the skull “How did you get here? How did you become a skull?” Adaly asks.
The skull huffs before continuing “I was getting to that, so impatient… I was the apprentice of a Grishbalan wizard who took me to this library. In order to pay for entrance, he sold my soul. Now I am not dumb, I had a contingency plan in place. Which means… Hey hey that is not okay” Amadeus starts yelling while Adaly pokes the skull, checking that it is not an illusion.
“Sorry needed to check that you are not an illusion. So, to get this right, your soul should be part of the library. So what is stopping us from handing you in?” Adaly asks with her most wicked smile.
The skull moves backward a bit “That would be a tactical error. I can help you get my wand, but ones you are in the vault there might also be something interesting for you. Plus I can help with your research.” Adaly looks back at the paladins. “What do you think?” Livia immediately comes closer “I think we should try.” but Sam quickly jumps in “But we should not take unnecessary risk, so only if there is a safe way.”
Adaly looks at Amadeus, who seems to consider their options. “So, the vault is guarded, but I think we can find a way in.” Amadeus says and Adaly shakes her head “Now that doesn’t sound like something we can help you with. We have our priorities and need to keep focus. If we agree that you will help us, and if you can find a safe way to get to the vault, we shall help you. But if you can’t you just helped us from the good of your heart.” Amadeus looks annoyed but agrees.
The door from the living room opens and Adaly quickly grabs the skull and puts it in her bag of holding, when Heskeni enters. Adaly lets out a breath out of relief, before letting the skull out of the bag.
Heskeni and Amadeus immediately hit it off while the rest of the party continues their investigations. They found some interesting information about the citadel, but exhaustion starts reaching them, so they stop for dinner.
