In the evening a feast is being served again, and they all take advantage of it. The party is very aware that this is their last evening in the library, before they go back to the wilderness and eating rations.
“So, let’s be practical for a second. What are we going to do with Amadeus?” Adaly asks. Adaly can see Amara wanting to react, just leave him behind, but she doesn’t say anything “Help him out, getting him safe and returning the wand to him” Livia comments, but Sam clearly is doubtful.
Adaly sighs, “I don’t like it, but I also don’t like giving him the wand and wishing him luck, I would like to do this a bit more controlled. Also, we have to consider what to do with Heskeni, Vasovik is not safe.” Adaly rubs her head. “What are you thinking? A safe house to keep both of them?” Sam asks.
She raises her shoulders “I guess… I also don’t trust what has happened to Jeremy, so I think we need a new safe house. Maybe my old hiding grounds are available.” Adaly rubs her head. “So let’s do that, tell Amadeus we will find safe housing, but think about specifics while traveling. It is a few days anyway.” Amara closes the topic. Adaly nods in agreement, and the paladins look at each other before also nodding in agreement.
Adaly goes to sit on the big chair again, she takes the blood vials out of her pockets and lets her magic flow. She first connects with Es-Vahelieth. He is walking around in a big chamber, overseeing and assisting in the creation of something. It takes some time before Adaly can see the arrow heads they are creating. When there is no more information that can be gleaned, Adaly switches to her sister Yigadel.
Yigadel and Valziar are in the same room “Grishbalan has so many secrets, it is impossible to know which one they are looking for” Valziar says “They must have some kind of goal… any speculations?” Yigadel asks. Valziar raises his shoulders “It could be anything, we know she doesn’t like our father, maybe something with that. On the other hand, she suddenly has paladins traveling with her, maybe there is a different devil they are targeting, who knows.”
Yigadel sighs, before Valziar continues “Now I need to go and check on the elixir. Could you go catch me some more squirrels?” Yigadel nods but she can see Valziar’s eyes turning white before she leaves.
Adaly comes back to the room and looks around. Sam and Livia are still at the table talking, Adaly expects Amara is taking a bath. Adaly joins her friend but seeing as she has nothing interesting to report she quickly afterward goes to bed.
In the morning Amadeus is present in the room with them when Adaly starts laying out the plan “So Amadeus, we would like to help you in your next endeavors, so I am keeping the wand for now, but we shall find you a body. For now, please go into the bag of holding, we don’t want to alarm the guards” Amadeus reluctantly agree.
Amara walks in carrying Heskeni “But do we have to go?” The halfling starts protesting. Amara quickly gets Heskeni in a more compliant state, while they start leaving. “We shall see you soon Lady Adaly” the head curator says and Adaly nods while they walk out. The party starts flying east, Adaly having learned how to cast teleportation circle it doesn’t matter which direction they go, and east is the fastest out of the vicinity of Grishbalan.
After a few hours they find a cave and start resting when suddenly snakelike creatures seem to come from all around them. The party starts fighting them off while Adaly starts casting teleportation circle.
Mid-way through the ritual Adaly feels a pull, something taking over the ritual, something not of this world. “We need to go” Adaly mumbles while the portal begins to form with an odd green glow. “We need to go NOW” Adaly yells while she helps Heskeni back on glimmer.
Strange skeletal beings start coming out of the portal, and with the paladin’s radiance they manage to kill a few. They leave weird green gems behind that Adaly quickly grabs while they start leaving.
They fly to another clearing where they can rest a bit more “What happened?” Amara asks, and Adaly just sighs “I think whatever fucked up shit the wizards did in this place, also fucked up the teleportation… So let me not retry this until we are far away of Grishbalan” All of them nod in agreement. Adaly sits down and starts spying on her targets, but except for Es-Grenalieth her spell doesn’t find its target. Es-Grenalieth is in the middle of fucking an attractive man, but it feels wrong to look into it, so Adaly drops it.
After a while they start flying again and find another location to rest a short time a few hours later. Adaly sends Jeremy a message ‘My love, we are leaving again. To Eskorban. So hopefully see you soon. Any updates? Keep up good work, love Adaly.’ But not Jeremy but a woman reacts ‘Adaly! Don’t worry, Jeremy is totally unharmed. For now. It’s really important that you chat with my boss. 14th Frostfall. Noon. North of Ingry. Alone.’
Adaly swallows, her eyes growing bigger. This is bad…
Amara sees Adaly’s look and comes closer concerned “What happened?” Adaly swallows shaking a bit the feeling of “Not Jeremy but someone else replied…. I didn’t recognize the voice, it was a woman though.” Sam and Livia immediately sit up straight and look concerned “What do they want?”
Adaly looks around a bit, they are in a waste land, getting there on time will be hell. “Um… she… um.. They are requesting me to come to the location north of Ingry, alone… To talk with her boss…. I…”
Livia looks at her with big eyes while Sam scratches his head and says “So trap” Amara rolls her eyes and replies a bit too loud “Of course a trap… That was clear from the fucking get go.” Adaly lays a hand on her friend’s shoulder “It is okay Amara, the main problem is more the timing, they are asking us to meet them there in 2 days. We have not even figured out yet if my safe house is safe. The timing just doesn’t add up.” Adaly worries
Sam steps in “Let’s just take this one step at a time. The possible safe house, where is it and how do we get there?” Adaly thinks about that. “Well, I think one more day of flight and then I can teleport us to Suzal, there I need a minute with my contacts. The location should be a few hours from there, but it has been a while since I have been there… I really am not sure what we shall find.”
“Okay so let’s first go to Suzal” Sam says decisively and Adaly nods. They get on the wyverns once more for the last stint of the day.
