They meet up with the paladins for lunch. They can only pick up the gem on the 20th, so they will have to come back. Not that Adaly minds that, Suzal does feel a bit like home. During lunch Adaly quickly goes over to the thiefsguild to get the information about the forest witch. Rolf provides her directions, so she teams up with the party again and get on their wyverns and fly towards Adaly’s old house.
They quickly find it, and land. The cabin is completely destroyed, but the surrounding area is exactly as she remembers. A bit more overgrown, but it truly feels like she has returned home, finally after 18 years. She walks through the remains of the cabin. Touching the stone and the floors. The rest give her some space.
Heskeni meanwhile turned skeleton again and is eagerly testing her new powers, while Amara uses her connection to the wilds to investigate any weirdness’s. After a bit Amara approaches Adaly and lays a hand on her shoulder “There is a strong connection to the feywild here.” Adaly smiles at her friend “That makes sense, but it does look like nobody has been here in about 20 years.”
Adaly spots some carvings on stone in the house and goes to investigate. She finds a teleportation circle and quickly starts making a note of it. She didn’t know there was one here, but it does make sense how Muddy always returned so quickly.
“What is this place?” Sam eventually asks and Adaly smiles at him “This is my childhood home. It got destroyed about 18 years ago, when devils killed my parent, in the hopes of finding me. I think the myths surrounding this place are enough to spook people from not coming here. At least I see no indication anybody has been here in a while. It should be safe for Heskeni.”
Livia bites her lip clearly interested in knowing more however knows that Adaly will want information in return. Heskeni is just excitedly running around. Sam clearly has the same thought as Livia but still asks “What myths?” Adaly chuckles “The witch of the woods, the monster people tell kids about, if you don’t behave the witch of the woods will eat you…” Adaly jokes, and Sam rolls his eyes “If you don’t want to share, just say so” His remark makes Adaly laugh “It is the truth though, darling.”
Adaly breaths in the air, just enjoying being back home for a second. She closes her eyes, remembering Muddy’s voice, remembering playing around. She walks to the location where she last saw Muddy, death on the ground. No trace visible of any fight, but it also has been 18 years.
She crouches down, touching the floor. “Why did you need help finding this place?” Amara asks, and Adaly kindly smiles at her one true friend “I have just lived here up until my parent died. No clue about the world or where we were. Then when they died I… I just ran… I did stumble up onto Suzal. So, I knew it was close to Suzal, by now too much time has gone by, maybe I could have traced back when I was younger. But back then I was afraid this place would be monitored. So I never tried.” Adaly smiles at her surroundings, happy to now know where it is. She looks at the paladins who look about ready to go.
“Heskeni, we will leave soon, but please stay here, you are safe here and can explore your powers all you like. We will return with anything you want, does that sound good?” Adaly asks in a way she would ask a child. “Oh yes of course, I can now do big magic, have you seen? Paper books and ink would be good. But I will stay here for now…” Adaly thinks it is good enough and the party make their way back to Suzal, pick up the potions and teleport to Ingry.
