In Nakovi Amara manages to pull rank and convince the clerk to provide them specific location of the Amberheart tribe, but for this night they decide to spend it the night at an inn. They first all sit together in Amara and Adaly their room.
“So what did Es-Vahelieth want?” Sam asks and Adaly leans against the wall. She can feel the fear coming over her again but pushes her feelings away “He wanted to kill me, I think… I didn’t stop long enough to ask him a question, but when I fell…” Adaly swallows taking a second to explain “I was trying to climb the temple he took me to, in the hope he wouldn’t see me and I would find a location to teleport from, but I fell down and landed and he rushed there blade out, started slashing, no control from his side, so bad even that he hadn’t realized I blinked away.” Adaly rubs her head before continuing
“Now I should add Es-Vahelieth is in the desert in Setia, so the temple was surrounded by only sand, so just booking it out there would not have been possible. But as mentioned I am not 100 percent sure what he wants, because I didn’t ask. Now for the rest I informed you that part of Ebony guard was in Calton, but there were also in Suzal, so yesterday I confronted Yigadel, who was trying to steal our emerald.”
Livia looks concerned at Adaly, which Adaly ignores, while Amara reacts “You are saying trying, so she failed?” Adaly nods “I was aware so I teleported in and made her go poof again. But more interestingly afterward I spied on her, she remarked that her Ioun stone was used, so for the next time we see my siblings, let’s try to grab their Ioun stone, and then the hits probably will stick better.” They nod in agreement. “Now I would like to catch up with Amara, so could you leave us alone for a bit?”
The paladins leave and Adaly stretches a bit. When the heartbeats are far enough away Amara looks at Adaly “What is up?” “I learned a new trick… it is not without risk, hence me not having done it yet, but maybe today is the day.” Adaly answers. Amara rolls her eyes “What is it?” Adaly smiles wickedly “I can contact my father… Not in a direct way, but like I can connect to his soul, and ask questions. He should answer truthfully and if I do it right he wouldn’t even know about it.”
Amara swallows, but Adaly continues “There is a chance he spots me, there is also a chance I will go insane for the evening from the vastness off his mind. So not without risk, but I really want to know what his goal is, with regards to me. But I could also ask about your mother…”
Amara seems to consider it. “I… Yes it would be good to know…” Adaly kindly smiles at her friend “I can also only ask question which can be answered by a single word. So I could asks if she died by his orders” Amara nods in agreement, clearly considering the implications. Adaly starts setting up for the ritual. “If I go insane, please just knock me out, I will be fine in the morning” Amara nods and Adaly casts the spell.
It feels like her soul is pulled to a different location. She stands at the edge of a still black ocean. But underneath the surface it looks like a storm is brewing, dark lightning strikes, water moving erratically. Adaly swallows and jumps in, asking her questions while floating in the storm.
Firstly she asks “Adaly, do you want her dead or alive?” the storm rumbles and replies MINE. It feels unnatural and strange for her to be here but she continues, her second question “Are the prisoners you are collecting, such as the seers or Ashe, for gaining power, leverage or to remove competition?” there is a bit of a hesitation before the response comes POWER
Adaly thinks for a second before continuing to ask “Is the power you seek to gain personal power, political power or to cast a spell or ritual?” and almost instantly she gets a reply SPELL
Only 2 questions left, Adaly switches to the question she wanted to ask for Amara so asks “Did Amelia Oceansoul die as part of your plans?” once more a hesitation, as if the storm is thinking, trying to find the memory, before the answer comes INDIRECTLY. Adaly is sad to hear that, Amara will not like that, she asks a final question, something Amara will also not like. “Is Amara part of your plans?” NO. and with that answer she is immediately shunted out of the space and returns to her body.
Adaly breaths, looks at Amara, who has her halberd at the ready “I am okay… that was an experience though. He was being vague, when I asked if he wanted me death or alive he just said ‘Mine’, but I did learn that there is a spell that Ilhoketh wants to sacrifice Ashe and other for. It will grant some kind of power. Finally when I asked about your mother. She was indirectly killed, I don’t know any specifics, sorry…”
Amara nods thinking about it. Adaly cocks her head looking at her friend “Are you okay?” Amara nods again “Yes… I will be fine, just need to think about that for a second.” Adaly nods “I will gave you your space, I will check on my siblings”
Adaly looks in at Valziar who is looking at the teleportation hall in Calton, keeping a close look at who is entering and exiting. He himself is standing in a dark alleyway, probably invisible for most patrons.
With nothing happening Adaly switches to Livia. Livia and Sam sitting in the room adjacent “I just, I think we can tell them… Amara had our backs at that fight, and Adaly probably kept us save from something very dangerous. I feel like I can trust them” Livia says, while Sam starts replying “They will protect us as long as we are of value for them. I trust them for this mission, but you… if this comes out that is information they will abuse after the mission. We can’t… do you think Ada… never mind”
Livia cocks her head “Okay fine we will not tell them, but what did you want to ask?” Sam rolls his eyes “I said never mind” a slight blush on his face and Livia chuckles.
Adaly switches back to Valziar. Zalia now also there at the location they are keeping watch, and Valziar starts leaving. He walks into a inn called the blushing mermaid at the moment the spell ends.
Adaly looks at Amara “Zalia and Valziar are rotating watching on the teleportation hall at Calton. Valziar just went to an inn called the blushing mermaid.” “We can ambush them, with the knowledge we now have, we can actually kill them.” Amara says excitedly. Adaly shakes her head on Amara’s suggestion “We… I am running low on spells” “Than I will go with the paladins” Amara says while walking to the other room. Adaly reluctantly follows, she rather not be alone, but they set out to Calton.
Adaly gave Amara and the paladins the instructions where Zalia is watching and she will stay in the teleportation hall, connecting to Valziar.
Valziar is sitting in the room, minding his own business when 10 minutes later Zalia rushes in “They know about the fucking Ioun stones, we need to get the fuck out” “They cannot know where we are, we… I…” Valziar says while his focus shifts to the ioun stone, no longer shining above Zalia’s head. A few seconds later Amara rushes into the room and Valziar cast darkness obstructing most of the fight, but he activates his other Ioun stone and his vision restores while he himself jumps out the window.
Outside Valziar can hear the fighting in the room continue, but clearly he is running away. Livia standing there waiting for him, Valziar recast darkness trying too escape. In the end Amara catches up with him, hits him with her halberd and he teleports away.
In the streets he keeps running, running away from the danger, when Adaly hears in her head ‘Do you know where he went? He fucking teleported’ Adaly tries to spot anything of interest but replies ‘He is still in the city, running for his life, but I cannot tell you where’
Another 10 minutes past and through Valziar’s eyes Adaly can see Amara rushing towards her brother and making a killing blow, but instead of dying he yells and disappears, her vision cutting off.
Adaly writes a note to the ebony guard, threatening them with a repeat of what happened here in Calton if they choice to keep pursuing the party. Amara enters the teleportation hall and lets her pre read it, and Amara nods in approval.
10 more minutes pass before the paladins also enter, Adaly goes towards the gnome. “So we would like to travel to Nakovi, however if anybody comes asking for us, tell them we went to Vasovik. Also ask if they are part of the ebony guard, and if yes give them this letter” Adaly says while putting several hundreds of gold on the counter “Of course my lady” the gnome nods and pockets the money and the note.
