They arrive at the palace around noon and are let into a large meeting chamber where they are introduced to Ansel Redheart, Oliver Wildegarde, Nicolas Chevalier and the scribes they have brought to the meeting.
Damon nods to Adaly that it is safe to start “Okay so let us start. My name is Adaly, and we are here today with Amara, Livia and lastly Jeremy. Our friend Jeremy got kidnapped recently by a devil in this country and their warlocks so that the devil could get to me. I believe Damon already showed you the note…”
The door opens and the king walks in the nobles and Damon jump up “Your majesty…” Damon starts and the king looks annoyed at the party and starts complaining “Why are all off you gather here in my palace, insulting my court?”
Adaly swallows, slightly bows “Your majesty, we are just here to warn you… I am Adaly and this is Amara, Liv…” the king interrupts her “I heard about the supposed kidnap. A note doesn’t prove anything.”
Adaly looks at Jeremy for a second, trying to suppress the annoyance she feels towards the king. “Your majesty, it is not just the kidnap. The kidnap for us is enough reason to contact you, but there is a devil in your land, at the Avario manor. She probably killed the previous inhabitance, influencing your courts children, bringing demons with her. We are not trying to tell you what to do with this information, we are just here to inform you. What you do with this, is your business.” Adaly says, trying to be politically correct
The king narrows his eyes “And how long has this been going on?” Adaly rubs her forehead “Well the devil has been in the prime material for a few weeks now, not sure if she was here, but we got the information she was here about 3 weeks ago” the king chuckles “I have seen duke Avario only 2 weeks ago, we went hunting, so I know this is a false claim.”
Adaly sighs “Your majesty, for a devil of her size making her appearance look like the duke will be a small task. But fine. Let me show you what is right now happening there.” Adaly says while subtly casting devils eyes on Josenno.
The spell takes root, and she sees Josenno is standing outside of the Avario manor, talking to a mist fiend. Adaly cast minor illusion, demoing to the rest what she is seeing, while repeating what Josenno says.
Josenno speaks toward the mist fiend “You know what to do, kill all individuals or small groups that come nearby. Do not intervene with large group, or if Adaly or Amara are in the small groups, just come and warn me, we shall set up the correct responds to them.” The mist fiend nods and disappears into a puff of mist while Josenno starts to burry something.
Adaly ends the display and looks at the king. He clearly is a bit startled but stands firm “This doesn’t prove anything. Let me just go to the manor and sort everything out myself” immediately the others in the room react “Your majesty, we cannot put you at risk… Even if it is a long shot she is right, that could mean your death…” Oliver is the one to say most explicitly, but the others mumble something in the same regard.
The king clearly annoyed says “So what do you suggest?” Adaly steps up once more and says “If I may, your majesty and my lords and ladies, we could demonstrate it…. I am not suggesting to put the king in danger, I want to ask you to collect a small group of your best warriors. You heard what Josenno said, small groups will get attacked. I can turn the king invisible, keeping him out of harm’s way, while I give my Ioun stone to Damon, so that he can keep an eye on the king, ensuring he is actually safe.”
All nod in agreement, before Adaly continues “I do suggest gather these forces quickly and lets leave within the hour… I trust none of this, and I don’t want this plan to reach the warlocks before we can act. If you think I am being over cautious I do want to highlight I was attacked this morning by a henchman from one of the parents of these children. I will protect their integrity by not naming who, because it is understandable they want to protect their children, but there is a leak.”
They all looked surprised at her and makes plans to leave about an hour later from the north gate.
Once the party is alone Adaly looks at Livia and Jeremy. “I am going to ask the two of you to sit this one out… If I need to turn the king and Damon invisible, plus all of us… That costs me to much resources… We are not going to go into too much of a fight, just gathering proof, we will be okay”
Jeremy nods in understanding, but Livia clearly disagrees “It is dangerous, we shouldn’t leave you alone” Adaly kindly smiles towards the paladin “Our mission is just protecting the king long enough to convince him, after that we get out” Livia still clearly doesn’t agree, but keeps quiet, while Adaly and Amara go to the meeting point.
At the gate is a small group of about 20 people, they will walk as a caravan for the first hour and afterward will split into a small group of 3 paladins and 3 city guards who shall patrol the actual manor. The king and party will follow them at a distance invisible. Hopefully 6 is considered a small group.
Oliver comes to the group “Good to see you again… You were right to paranoid. One of the scribes, Perenelle, disappeared after the meeting, so I advise you to quickly start going, hopefully beat them to the manor. Good luck” Adaly sadly smiles “I had hoped I was wrong, but yeah… thank you, we shall return in a few hours.”
