The party arrive a bit before dinner, and Amara immediately starts helping setting up for dinner while Adaly walks to the chief “Hey, is there anything I can do to help around here, in between our visions?” Adaly asks kindly, wanting to stay busy, not being in her head. The chief chuckles “Strongarm always can use help. He is building the palisade outside of the village.” Adaly nods in thanks and goes to find the orc named Strongarm, but he indicates that they first should eat dinner but she can help afterward.
Adaly is not in the mood of eating, so she just strolls through the village. Sam walks up to her “Hey do you have a moment?” he asks, and Adaly just nods while they walk a bit into the woods, not too far, still within the safety of the town.
“So what’s up?” Adaly looks at Sam, she feels an insecurity coming over her. Sam rubs the back of his neck “I um… I wanted to thank you for forcing me to take a day off… I really needed that” He says doubtful and kindly smiles “Oh don’t even mention it. We all have our off days…” she kindly smiles at him.
She looks down, thinks about the past day and asks “I… Did Livia and Jeremy tell you the details on what happened at the mansion?” Sam nods before answering “They were not there, but they mentioned you went with the king and devils attacked you…” “Yes… I just… I wanted to ask you… does it ever get easier? Losing people who follow you?” Adaly swallows, feeling a bit overwhelmed by her emotions. She already starts taking a step back, wanting to run away, regretting asking him.
Sam steps closer “It gets easier, but never easy…” He gives her a sad smile and touches her shoulder. She feels a tear coming up and quickly steps away “Thanks, but forget I said anything” and she starts walking towards the bonfire. Sam still says “Adaly….” But she ignores him.
She goes to stand a bit at a distance from the fire, observing the camp feasting. A tear streams down her face but she quickly wipes it. Her emotions of fear, sorrow, terror overwhelm her, but she also feels this is not the time and place for that so tries to push it away. Adaly can see Sam walking up to Livia and Amara joining them for dinner, but Adaly just keeps her distance, trying to find her inner peace again.
After a while Strongarm comes towards her “Are you sure you are up for this? You are skinny not build for hard work” he jokes and Adaly just nods “Yes I want to help” “Fine your funeral.” He laughs but takes her to the edge of the camp and instructs her how to remove bark from a freshly cut tree.
She quickly picks up the instructions, but her body is not very muscular which for the first time in her life is a downside. It is hard work and she can feel her body objecting, but this is good and distraction. After a few hours she goes back to the cabin, exhausted, and sleep quickly finds her.
Adaly wakes up and sees Amara just sitting and staring. That is unusual for her friend who always starts with a morning workout. She stands up and walks to her friend “Want to talk” and Amara nods. They walk outside and Amara starts talking “I think Uladrem is sending me visions… about what they call a thief and murderer, and I need to kill him.”
Adaly considers this for a second. “Why would they do that? And who is the person you need to kill?” Amara raises her shoulders “They said they connected me to him, and I saw a vision of him fighting demons before and now him being surrounded by black tieflings and attacking devils.” She thinks about that, Adaly knew that Ilhoketh had formed a army of black tieflings “So it is probably a black tiefling, or a devil working for Ilhoketh…. I… I might be able to ask Ilhoketh himself about this…”
Amara stares at her with a look of not understanding. Adaly chuckles while rubbing the back of her neck “Remember the ritual we did few days ago, I can do that again… but lets wait until this eve, so that if I go crazy you can knock me out and I can sleep it off” Adaly says and Amara nods in agreement before they split off and go do their normal morning rituals.
Adaly climbs one of the trees in search of Livia and after 15 minutes finds the weird paladin. She really needs a relieve of the stress that build up the last few days, she has been flirting with the paladin, let’s see if she can get her.
“Hey Livia, how are you feeling?” Adaly asks and Livia kindly smiles back “I… the past days was a bit much don’t you think?” Adaly sadly smiles back “Indeed” she looks down, they are up high, but that shouldn’t stop her. She moves a bit closer, truly sitting next to the strange elf. Feeling her body warmth, but also sensing the sin getting off of her, making Adaly hesitate for a second. She promised she wouldn’t ask anymore, so she won’t, but could Livia be a devil? No she is too naïve for that, Adaly thinks.
“How are you?” Livia asks, breaking Adaly’s thoughts. Adaly once more shyly smiles at her “I… it…” Adaly stutters, playing the damsel in distress routine. She moves even closer, their bodies touching. Adaly leans forward like 60% going for a kiss but not really. She closes her eyes, making it seem like she is in debate with herself, before moving back again.
The elf doesn’t move closer in contrast to what Adaly had hoped. She shakes her head “I’m sorry” and starts climbing down. “Adaly wait” Livia still says, but she keeps climbing. The elf doesn’t accept being ignored and jumps after her, Adaly startles and also jumps, casting feather fall on the both of them.
“Livia that was dangerous” Adaly says while Livia smiles “I knew you wouldn’t let us fall to our deaths. But Adaly, I am sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, I don’t like woman that way” Adaly chuckles this time “Have you ever been with a woman?” “No, but…” “Then you do not know what you are missing. I could have rocked your world. But if you don’t want that, fine…. I will see you back at the ritual side.” Adaly says while walking away.
She would have loved the physical connection, but teasing Livia also gave her a weird sensation of satisfaction. She smiles when she reenters their sleeping cabin. Sam still asleep and Amara also just arriving smiles “We should pull a prank on him”
Adaly looks at her friend before looking back to the strangely intoxicating man. “What are you thinking off?” Adaly asks before wickedly smiling. “Drawing a penis on his face, or putting his hand in water.” Amara smiles back.
She goes quickly goes into her back and pulls a cup out, fills it with water hands it too Amara, while grabbing the charcoal she has in her bag, casting mage hand and nods to Amara “Why not both?”
Both of them slowly approach Sam and Adaly tries to draw a penis on his face with her mage hand, while Amara lifts his arm. Sam startles awake and both of them quickly hide what they were doing. Adaly kindly smiles at him “Sorry to wake you, but we should be getting to the ritual side.” Sam nods and starts getting up.
Adaly comes close to him. “You have something on your forehead, let me wipe it off” she says while wiping the small mark visible on him. He stares at her before visibly swallowing. She recognizes the look, it is one she has had towards him as well, a desire, but both of them quickly push it away and go to the ritual side.
