They fly the better part of the day, night already setting when they arrive at Grentel, the village that Amara’s ally lives at. They land outside of the village and walk up. A guard is shaking but stops them “Stop, who goes there?”
Adaly raises her hands and signals the others to do the same. “We come in peace, we are friends of Gevaudan, could you point us in his direction?” “Come back in the morning.” The guard replies raising her crossbow towards them. “We are not going to harm you… We just want to talk”
The guard seems to doubt how to proceed, he points with his crossbow towards the creek running right next to the town “Walk through that and I will let you in”
Adaly first cocks her head in confusion before her teachings in the clergies make something click. “Vampires… he is afraid we are vampires, so lets just do as he asks.” Adaly steps into the creek and walks up and down through it, the rest of the party follows and she walks back raising her hands “See, we are okay, just here to talk” The guards lowers his crossbow and lets them in, he is still shaking but seems to be soothed by their walk through the water.
“Amara do you know where he lives?” Adaly asks while they walk through the village. “No, but he never liked crowds so one of the houses on the edge.” Amara comments and they casually walk through the town, all lights in the houses off, it looks weird. In the darkness they suddenly see a house with a open door.
They walk up to it and a couple is being bitten by vampires. “So… Here are the vampires. Could you guys stop for a second we would like to talk.” Adaly says while walking in. The vampires stop biting and one of the vampires says “Look darling, dessert walked in” both of them start laughing.
Adaly rolls her eyes “I wanted to safe you guys, but sure, Amara are you up for some as whipping?” Amara cracks her knuckles and smiles “Always” and the fight starts. It is not a hard fight. At the end suddenly a giant wolf joins them “The fuck” Adaly brings out and Amara brings out the killing blow “Oh hey Wolfie…” Amara says.
The wolf points with its snout to a street over before he starts running and Amara immediately follows. Adaly thinks a second “Um you guys stay with these people, heal them…. Apparently we are following the massive wolf” Adaly still yells to the paladin before she follows Amara.
They run through the town, chasing vampires, but most vampires turn to mist as soon as they see the wolf. After a while the wolf approaches them and starts shifting to a human form “Hey Amara, how have you been?”
Adaly’s eyes widen “This is Gevaudan?” Amara laughs “Yes Gevaudan this is Adaly, and Adaly this is Gevaudan. Now is there somewhere we can talk about this?” Gevaudan nods and they walk towards an inn, while on their way picking up the rest of their party.
Gevaudan talks to the inn keep who leaves them alone “So you can stay here tonight, but I expect you came here with a reason and you have questions.” “What the fuck is up with the vampires? Normally they are not this brass” Adaly immediately comments.
Gevaudan rubs his forehead “There is a vampire lord, lord Hellsar, residing in the castle to the north who wants me to work for him. I rejected and he did not like that, so they are attacking the village until I agree.”
Amara nods in understanding “We also want you to work for us, but will not force you as I expect the vampire lord is trying to recruit you. We have a mission to kill an archdevil in the hells and could use some extra muscle.” Gevaudan starts laughing “If you take care of the vampires I will happily follow.”
The party all nods in agreement and start making plans. “I rather stay away, I can give you more information, but I will not join you” Gevaudan adds and Adaly narrows her eyes “Why not?” Gevaudan looks nervous at her, clearly not trusting the strangers “I don’t mind explaining to Amara, but I rather do that in private” Adaly leans back and looks at Amara.
Amara and Gevaudan step out, and a minute later they come back inside “I agree with Gevaudan, he shouldn’t join.” Adaly narrows her eyes but Amara shakes no so she just lets it go. They plan for going into the vampire liar the next day. Afterward Adaly tries to make an amulet again, first failing, but the second attempt succeeds.
