Amara and Adaly wait a bit at the end of the hallway “I think we should destroy the heart and afterward take a rest in the wellspring… the leviathan’s corruption, I already feel it” Adaly comments and Amara nods in agreement. They see the rest of the party come and once they check everybody is okay, they enter to fight with the shelled creatures.
Three of them retreat in their shells while they start fighting two of them. They work well as a party and bring one quickly down, when the 3 hiding in their shells suddenly release a shockwave. Adaly can feel the sin in the shockwave, the hatred, the pain. She swallows, feels the room coming down on her. She tries to calm her breathing “Kill them before they can shock us again” she yells when she kills the second shelled creature.
This time the party spreads out a bit more and only one more creature can retreat in his shell. Once more a shockwave comes but way less oppressive than when the three hit at the same time. Still uncomfortable but doable, she feels the corruption and paranoia, but they still manage to kill the last one.
Once it is down, Adaly starts casting chill touch on the heart. Meanwhile Livia goes to scout ahead and mentions that in the next room is another closed door and 3 crystals flying around, Sam scouts the other direction where he informs them is a room like the one they are in, and there clearly used to be a heart, but it is missing.
Finally, the heart crashes down and Adaly approaches it, while starting to fill her purified alchemist flask with the ichor. Some of the ichor comes on her skin, it burns but more relevant her brain shuts down and she falls over.
She opens her eyes and sees Sam and Amara over her, she blinks twice. “Adaly, what… what happened?” Sam asks holding her hand and Amara looks her concerned over “I don’t know… I don’t like this thing. Let’s get into the wellspring.” Amara nods and grabs the wellspring while Sam keeps looking worried at her.
Adaly rolls her eyes “I am fine… We knew the corruption of the Leviathan could become problematic.” Sam nods while helping her up “I know… but I… I am allowed to care you know.” Sam says, causing Adaly to chuckle “Caring is dangerous you know… but thank you”.
Once the wellspring is prepared, they enter, but to her surprise Sam and Amara are nowhere in sight. Adaly starts panicking “Where is Amara?” grabbing the blood vial when she notices a box with a note. She quickly reads the note.
I apologize for not warning you against bringing items with extradimensional storage space into the Wellspring, but this needed to happen.
For reasons we don’t fully understand, the magic that transports you into the Wellsprings gets confused by such items the first time they are brought into this space.
Both the bag of holding and the amulet are now safe to bring into the Wellspring on future uses.
Take the contents of this box as my apology. I believe you are familiar with how to use the items inside the leather pouch.
Heralan
At the moment she finishes reading it she feels her bag of holding moving, and quickly opens it, finding Sam crawling out of it. Adaly quickly helps him “What happened?” Sam asks, and Adaly gives him the note “Extradimensional storage space into extradimensional storage space tends to be weird.” She says while approaching Livia, looking at the amulet “I expect Amara is in there.”
Adaly goes to touch the amulet before Amara suddenly appears in front of her. Adaly immediately hugs her friend. Amara rubs her head, “So that was weird, it looked like you were stuck in an hourglass Livia.” Adaly looks surprised at her friend and at Livia, noticing a crack in the necklace. She goes to touch it and is teleported inside of it.
She can see a massive hourglass. In the bottom half of the hourglass stands a woman who looks like Livia and is covered in a black liquid that drips onto her from the center of the hourglass. From the same location, droplets of golden light are slowly drifting upwards into the top half, where they collect in a pool of light that sits against the top of the hourglass.
The walls of the room are completely covered in runes, that she recognizes as Grishbalan runes. Adaly quickly grabs a notebook and starts copying the ones that look important. The room slowly increases heat and once it is unbearable Adaly exits the necklace.
“Interesting, you are indeed in an hourglass surrounded by Grishbalan runes, maybe we should let Heskeni look at it.” Adaly murmurs while showing Livia the notes she made. Livia looks surprised and concerned. “I don’t think it is smart to let Heskeni near that, but we could let her read your notes” Sam comments and Adaly nods in agreement before she returns to the box that Heralan left for them.
It contains several healing potions, and more of the slivers they found in Grishbalan. They pocket it before Adaly starts the conversation “So I want to contact my father again, to get more information about you sister and seeing if Imrior survived.” Amara and Livia nod in agreement while Sam looks worriedly at her “Are you sure you are up for that? You fainted just before we entered” Adaly sighs and rolls her eyes “Yes I am fine” and starts preparing the ritual.
When she arrives at the dark ocean that represents Ilhoketh’s mind, she finds a many limbed creature that glows with a sickening yellow light swimming through the tranquil waters. Adaly hesitates for a moment but still jumps into the water.
She asks her first question ‘Is Imrior Alive?’ she feels a certainty in him this time Yes. Then the creature notices her, swims up to her and grabs her arms. Adaly persists, continuing to ask her questions as the creature takes hold of her, but she her mind is panicking ‘What is happening?’ she asks nervously I see you.
The creature extends one of its tentacles towards Adaly’s forehead but is stopped by an orange glow emanating from the amulet Adaly got from her mother. She starts breathing heavily when asking the next question ‘What is the name of the ritual?’ No name
The tentacles wrap around the shield the amulet projects and cracks begin to form in the shield. Adaly feels a warm glow as, out in the wellspring, Amara wraps her arms around Adaly’s physical body. She keeps strong and reformulates the question ‘What is its purpose?’ Make devil
The shield shatters and then moves into Adaly’s forehead, but in her panic she quickly asks her last question ‘Who is my mother?’ Eleshra
As the spell ends and Adaly is wrenched back into the real world, she finds Amara hugging her and Sam holding her hands.
