Adaly is pissed at Sam, she thought he understood the risk, the problems that were present if he and Livia joined the fight. He is one lucky bastard that they managed to avoid that, that they live. And then accusing her of compromising the mission when fighting? Doesn’t he know she doesn’t have a choice. She didn’t want this, she wants to run away and hide, find a location where he would never find her.
Tears start streaming down her face again, but she is back on the path to Ingry. A few paladins are present cleaning up, but they give her space.
Amara joins her shortly after “So what is the plan?” Amara asks while Adaly keeps walking “Getting drunk, killing some people, I don’t know, and I don’t care” Adaly says. Amara rubs her head, walking with Adaly, being protective of her. Adaly stops and looks at her friend. “I… I want to thank you, for you know… saving me.” Adaly says realizing she hadn’t thanked her friend yet.
Amara hits her shoulder, “Don’t mention it. You know you can count on me.” Adaly feels tears forming again but just nods once more in thanks and starts walking again. Amara follows and asks “So, what do you want to do with the paladins? We still need them” Adaly this time rubs her head. She is starting to feel slightly more like herself, but this is something she will need a while too process.
“We will find them back in Ingry, for now I just want to drink and not think about what just happened.” Adaly says and Amara nods in agreement. The next hour they walk in silence before they hear Sam yelling “Adaly, Amara wait up” Adaly rolls her eyes, she doesn’t want to deal right now, so she continues walking. Sam rushes past them, he clearly has been running and looks worried at her “Adaly please…” she tries to walk past him when he hugs her.
Her body freezes up, feeling his warmth is strange, she doesn’t deserve it, want it. She feels all emotions of the past hours boiling up, but she tries to suppress it. Sam whispers in her ear “It is okay. You are safe” but she cannot reply. Nothing is okay, everything is off, everything is wrong.
She just completely freezes up, completely lost for words, unable to act, just feeling Sam’s warmth. He lets her go and takes a step back, but she just keeps standing, staring at him. She feels her mouth becoming dry, her muscles irritated by the lack of motion, but she cannot move, her brain completely in shock.
After a while Amara claps her hands “So we wanted to go for drinks, let’s go” the sudden noise bringing Adaly back to reality, she blinks her eyes, looks at Amara “Yes, let’s go” Adaly says absent mindedly. She continues walking, feeling her party members’ eyes on her. She doesn’t know how to process the events of the day, her brain just being completely overwhelmed.
They go towards the temple that Es-Vahelieth threw on them, partially out of curiosity for how it turned out, partially Adaly finds it fitting to go to the location everything could have so easily ended. Why did she fight for her life here? She was free from her father for those few brief seconds.
She swallows and they enter the tavern. There are several paintings, looking like caricatures of them. Amara is portrayed as a full orc, which is looking way wilder than she actually does. Adaly is shown with the skimpiest dress she has ever seen, her breast enlarged, and she has long hair. Livia is portrayed as a damsel in distress who Jeremy is saving. Jeremy having 2 legs but for the rest pretty accurate.
Adaly stops at the painting of herself, she looks hot. Not that she ever questioned her attractiveness, she knows she is hot, but this painting, damn. “Can I get you all seated?” The owner asks them and looks at Amara and Adaly “You are them…. Please take a seat, all drinks and food are on the house.” Adaly chuckles “You are going to regret that. Get us your strongest drinks and keep them coming.”
Adaly goes to one of the tables, furthest away from where Es-Vahelieth had cut her throat. The waiter comes with drinks, Adaly immediately takes the first one he puts down and chucks it down, giving it back to the waiter before he leaves “Keep up.” She tells him.
The rest of the party goes to sit near her, Amara joins her in drinking, Sam and Livia both not drinking and Gevaudan does take one of the mugs, but he drinks in a way slower pace.
The waiter barely can keep up with Adaly’s drinking, but she is happy with the fogginess the alcohol causes. She had never drank much, but the alcohol numbs her feelings, and she just wants to forget the day, so continues drinking.
Amara looks around the chamber “We should correct the paintings. Specifically, Jeremy’s, we should remove his leg.” “And give him a mustache.” Adaly excitedly reacts. Amara smiles “And a penis on the face” making Adaly laugh. Livia rolls her eyes and gives Sam a look, but Sam just shakes his head.
Amara stands up and makes changes to the painting, while Adaly stands up and barely can stand straight. The whole world is turning, she tries to walk closer to Amara when she sees 3 patrons bothering her friend. “Just making it more accurate” Amara jokes to one of the patrons “How would you know what he looks like? These are the heroes of Ingry, don’t touch them.”
“What? You don’t recognize us?” Adaly asks and minor illusions her breast to meet the size off the painting. Adaly laughs at her own joke, but the patrons look offended and one of them goes to punch her, but Sam grabs his arm and Amara goes to stand in between them. “You don’t want to touch her” Sam says in a darker tone than she ever heard from him. But the other patrons seem to ignore him.
“Bar fight” Adaly smiles and makes the ground shake, while Amara knocks out one of the three, and Sam hits another one who goes down. Adaly goes to also punch one of them but loses her balance and falls to the ground, laughing at her own failure.
The owner burst in “What is the meaning of this?” He looks around the mess they made and angrily yells “Get out… NOW” Sam helps Adaly up, and she really can no longer stand on her own two feet, so leans fully on him. Amara carries the two unconscious patrons out, and the party leaves the tavern.
Adaly looks at Sam while heavily leaning on him “You are pretty” Sam smiles and helps her down the streets. After a bit she says “We should turn right here…” Sam looks surprised but follows her guidance. A few corners later they get to a temple Adaly has brought many lonely women too.
