Sam’s face slowly turns back to the one of the man she loved. Adaly rushes over and jumps at him, immediately grabbing him into a hug and kissing him. Even though it has only been 1,5 days since his face turned like that, she missed his looks. Especially during the talk, they had the day before, she wanted to kiss him so badly, but now she finally can again.
Sam still says “Thank you” to the cleric Sophia before they rush out of the temple. They quickly find an inn and get naked. Adaly wanted to show him how much she cared so pushes him onto the bed and gets on him. Her hands explore his body, while his hands explore hers. They kiss, cuddle and fuck each other. Afterward Adaly cuddles onto him, stroking his chest, catching her breath.
“I love you too” she finally whispers, while he grabs her chin, forcing her to look at him. He has a big smile on his face “I know”. Adaly rolls her eyes “That would be one of the appropriate reactions according to Amara. She gave me a lot of shit for how I reacted to you… she will be happy to hear you are more skilled at this” he looks her over “You already told her?” “Of course I did. She is my everything, she should know everything” Adaly reacts while rolling onto her back. Sam now lays his head on her chest, still closeness still intimate.
Sam’s hand goes to her scars “How did you get those?”. With her free hand she starts at the scar at her throat “Well this one you know, Es-Vahelieth. The one on my shoulder was during ambush of devils of my childhood home” he comes closer “I hadn’t even seen that one” he says, trying to keep the conversation light. She also moves her hand more south, to the scar next to her belly button.
“Once more Es-Vahelieth but at the time I was dumb and tried to face him alone. This one is me trying to remove my uterus, sadly failed, but again I used to be really dumb and thought I could perform surgery” her hand stops near her pelvis. Sam’s hand feels the last scar “That is a nice clean cut. You did this yourself? You could be a good doctor.” She rolls her eyes and finally points at her foot “And the last one is thanks to Es-Harelier. He tried to pin me down while killing Rosemary. I managed to get free but couldn’t do anything for her.” Adaly says bit sad.
Sam looks at her, observing her. “I am guessing Rosemary is the one you loved and lost?” Adaly nods before saying “She was not built for this life, she was a jewelry salesperson. So, it was inevitable. Main regret I have that I never told her how I felt… for the rest, I told her the risk, I did my best to protect her, I just couldn’t.”
Sam caresses her face in a nice gentle way, she goes to sit up, and he keeps stroking her back. “Am I the first person who told you they love you in that way?” Adaly laughs while looking at Sam. “Well, few things, I have been in another relationship. Also, I said I didn’t say it, she had. Oscar also said it multiple times, but I didn’t love him. I don’t think he loved me either, it was more of an obsession for him. But no Rosemary had told me how she felt few times. But this is only the second time I have ever said it. And the other time was this morning to Amara, so you can thank her for the help” Adaly winks at him.
“You never said I love you to Muddy?” Sam asks, picking up she meant saying love you in general, and no longer only in romantic sense. Adaly laughs again “Muddy was not that much into saying it. I know she loved me, and that is good enough. If I had told her she probably had made fun of me for it, so I also never felt the temptation to say it.”
She can see some doubt on Sam’s face but he pushes the thought away “You can always ask, but I might not answer, and we do have to start leaving soon” Adaly says while looking at the man she loved “It’s just you mentioned before you had multiple contracts on your name. And the feywild connection, is Muddy a fey creature?” “Yes, but I do think that is a conversation for another day. We should be going soon, and I want to take this moment in one more time” Adaly says while going to sit on Sams lap and kisses him once more.
Less greedy as during the sex, but really taking him in. She knows that this is probably the last time they will have a moment like this and feels a tear forming. He grabs her closer, smelling her, also taking her in. She grabs his face, also sees tears in his eyes, he probably had the same realization. “I love you, and I hope we get more of these moments in the future. But if not, please remember me like this.” She says and kisses him.
“I love you too” she hears his voice breaking, but he grabs her close so she can’t see his face. She had already noticed in their earlier talk that his previous love and lost hurt him more than she had with Rosemary. She feels guilty putting him through that once more.
They sit like that for 5 more minutes before Adaly gets up. “Let’s go, else we will be late.” Sam nods and they get up, back to their reality. Back to the mission.
While Sam puts on his armor Adaly does a quick prayer to Arilana to thank her for this blessing. And once she is done, she sees Sam staring “This was my perfect day” she comments. Walking out towards the bathhouse preparing for the night to come.
