Adaly and Amara walk towards the tavern that Arav described to them earlier. He is sitting outside and immediately jumps up “You still came” he says and Adaly nods “Our party informed us you wanted to talk, so let’s talk.” Arav narrows his eyes, clearly not believing that the party informed them.
Arav opens the door and leads them to a table at the back. At the table is a hooded figure, and once they get close Adaly recognizes countess Kale, she looks as if she has not slept in a while. Adaly chuckles but goes to sit down across from the lady, but Amara keeps standing defensive.
“You are Adaly I assume? I am here because…” the countess starts but Adaly interrupts her “Let me stop you right there. It is not very lady like to beg. You want us to spare your children, yes?” countess Kale nods “Great, arrangements have been made already.” Adaly smiles and countess Kale looks surprised. Amara steps forwards “But if you were going to offer us money, we would still love to take that.”
Countess Kale says to Arav “Pay them.” And Adaly leans forward “I do want to point out you will never see them again. We need to fake their deaths, and afterward they should never be spotted in this country again. I do also want to warn you what I will do to either of you if you ever reveal we helped them escape.”
Arav pauses, waiting to see how the countess reacts. She sighs and says “My children have made it clear that they never wanted to see me again, so this is expected. Arav, do still pay them. I will take my leave.” Countess Kale stands up and walks out. Arav gives Amara a bag of coins and Adaly and Amara walk towards the paladin’s guild.
The base of the Hallowed path is almost empty, but their party and Damon are sitting in his office. “Hey All, so Damon we are later because we needed to check up if the rumor was true. It is sadly true, and the devil herself is currently present at the mansion. So, we need to convince everybody to postpone the attack to midnight, then the summoning ends.”
Damon nods in understanding “Okay, we shall go to the palace shortly. But first the two strangers, do you have any idea who they are?” Adaly shakes her head. “We met an elven man at our side mission to Certevilla, but I don’t remember anything off him.” “Okay… concerning. They are called Ombralin and Allissa, black haired elven man and a blonde human woman.”
Adaly recognizes the name. Ombralin is a fairy tale monster of a creature that tricks parents into giving away their young children. Adaly swallows, that sounds like something her father does, and the description of the man matches what Muddy told her.
Adaly looks at Sam, reminding herself of the mission, her feelings and trying to convince herself her brain is playing tricks “Sounds like a fake name. At least it is a fairytale monster, I cannot believe a mother would intentionally name their kid after a monster. But we shall see. You said they are already at the palace? The king trusted them?”
Damon nods “Yes, there are more guards around him now, but he claims to know you, and he had a convincing story. Plus, Allissa is a known professor at the university of Certevilla, her position is high enough that if she wanted an audience with the king, she just could ask.” Adaly nods “Okay, I do not trust this, but there is not much we can do from here. Be ready to attack at least Ombralin, I am afraid of who he might be.” Adaly says towards her party. Damon swallows “I possibly have to stand against you, I need to protect the king.”
“Understandable, we will keep the king out of it, but I understand your loyalty. Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that.” Adaly smiles towards Damon, and he nods, while they set out toward the palace once more.
