The next morning Adaly wakes up and feels drained, exhausted. Every time she closes her eyes she remembers how her father’s soul looks. The void, darkness, and his sickly yellow eyes. She feels her eyes being wet and wipes them.
Sam looks sad towards her, it was the first time in a long time she hadn’t joined him in the bedroll, but she needs some space. After they cleaned up their campsite Adaly takes a deep breath.
“I need to show you guys something, but a bit further away from the road.” Adaly says and walks into the woods. The rest of the party follows and once they are out of sight of the road Adaly starts explaining.
“So first of all, I want to apologize. My father possibly entered my mind the last time I contacted him and possibly saw what Es-Grenalieth was doing. He might have found out another way, but just in case he did know because of me, I do want to apologize.” Adaly swallows before continuing “Now I got the crest let me show you what it does.” She first makes her own wings appear before giving the others wings as well.
“Now we need to be careful, this is infernal magic, highly illegal.” Adaly starts saying as soon as Livia and Amara start flying. Livia looks sad but nods in agreement, while Amara just ignores and lifts off.
Adaly shakes her head, withdraws her own wings and rubs her head. If they get spotted, that will be problematic. Sam and Livia go to each other to discuss the new wings. Gevaudan seems not impressed and withdraws the wings as well. After a while, Amara lands “Shall we go?” Adaly asks and starts walking, not waiting for the others to follow.
When they reach the Leviathan, they see Imrior’s corpse burn to a crisp. The flames still burning the sand, forming the words ‘Release El-Illivion or face the wrath of the heavens. This is your only warning’ Adaly looks at the message and Livia sighs starts kicking sand over the flames “Thanks, now he knows we were here.” Adaly says while rolling her eyes, Livia looks down and seems to realize that “Sorry”. Adaly is annoyed and walks towards the Leviathan, Amara following her closely.
There is a cat greeting them when they enter the Leviathan. The cat is on one side fully white with a red eye, the other side completely black. The cat is sitting on an envelope addressed to ‘The champion’.
Amara starts casting speak with animals, but the cat walks away disappearing in the next room. Adaly quickly follows but the cat vanished. Adaly looks at her friend “So this is clearly for you… What do you want to do with it?”
Amara considers it and opens the envelope. She takes out an empty piece of paper and a coin. Amara looks at another piece of paper, and after a second shows Adaly.
Congratulations on besting the tiefling and claiming your full power. The armor looks good on you. I’ve brought small gifts to celebrate your victory. The coin is for luck and the piece of paper is a map. When you find the brass dragon sleeping in the dark, burn it in the fire of its mouth and it will show you a way. I apologize for the cryptic nature of the instructions. Leaving this message is not without risk for me.
– A mysterious ally.
Ps. Be wary of the one who gave you the star. She still lives, but her father has her now and he will soon know all she knows. Her goals may no longer align with yours.
“So, what do we do with this?” Amara asks, and Adaly sighs “Lets deal with it later, lets first kill this thing.”
They walk down the Leviathan, kill the remaining creatures rooming the halls on the third level before they manage to collect the last crystal key.
They open the doors and a large chamber with stairs is revealed. At the top of the stairs is a massive door, and above it is a clock. There is one creature so Adaly approaches him. “Hello… Can we please pass?” She asks but the creature cocks his head and starts a spell.
Adaly doesn’t wait what is happening and starts casting blight. As soon as the spell hits the clock makes a ticking noise and moves to 1. Livia also shoots an arrow, and another ding clock is now at 2. The creature blast them and the party starts spreading over the battlefield “Let’s only hit it with powerful stuff, I don’t want to know what happens when it reaches 12.” The party nods in agreement.
They all go up the stairs checking the door, there seems to be no way of opening it. Adaly keeps flinging her highest level spell on the creature, and the clock moves up each time. They are all at the top platform when the clock strikes 12.
Suddenly they get all hit with something like a fireball, only even more painful. They spread out better, not all at the same level. Gevaudan stays at the top level, Amara goes to smack the creature, done with doing it the smart way.
Adaly goes unconscious but she quickly wakes up to Sam healing her. She smiles at him, mouths ‘thank you’ before she looks down and sees Amara one floor down looking rough. Adaly rushes towards her friend but before she can even get a floor lower the clock strikes 12 again. This time the floor she, Sam and Livia are on lights up and burst with light before Adaly loses consciousness again.
Adaly wakes up to Amara giving her a healing potion. She feels rough, she sits up, still cast a spell towards the creature before she notices Sam. Sam’s demon got out, and he is hovering over Livia, sword raised. Livia is unconscious, laying still. “Sam, don’t” Adaly yells and rushes in that direction when Amara keeps attacking the creature.
The creature dies and the door opens. Adaly rushing forward placing herself between Livia and Sam. “Sam, you can resist this. Don’t let the demon consume you.” Adaly says while crouching down, keeping her eyes on him, but letting her magic stabilize Livia.
Sam blinks, looking at her, looking at Livia and the demon starts retracting. He drops his sword, which immediately falls down a floor. He himself starts falling to his knees as well and Adaly catches him, he is breathing heavy as she is worries about him. “Stay here” she says hugging him and climbing down, grabbing his sword.
