The party decides to work a bit further than their bodies think is smart towards the Leviathan, making up for lost time. They set up camp when Adaly starts a conversation “Livia, do you think your brother will still be there tomorrow?” Livia rubs her head “I hope not. I think when he realizes that I am no longer there and then he will move on.” “You all have such family drama’s” Gevaudan jokes and Amara chuckles.
“Devil and angels apparently don’t make for good parents” Adaly winks back before they finish setting up camp, Adaly crawls into a bedroll with Sam once more, them hugging each other to sleep.
In the morning Adaly once more enters Livia’s amulet, collecting as much information as she can. After which they continue walking towards the Leviathan. As hoped no Vale present, they enter the Leviathan and walk down to the third level of the Leviathan.
The corpses of the demons they killed before are gone, and the rope closing the bossroom also disappeared. Adaly goes to stand behind the door, preparing to open it so that Amara can rush in. The two friends look at each other and nod, Adaly opens the door and quickly the fighting starts.
There are 8 demons, similar to the ones they fought a few days ago. There is also one bigger one. They are surrounding a fire, on which it looks like they are burning one of the corpses of the earlier fight for food.
Sam and Gevaudan get hit by some kind of poison on the weapons of the devil, weakening them. Adaly and Livia stay at a distance, and Amara just kills the demons before they can attack her. They manage to beat the demons, but Sam and Gevaudan clearly are exhausted.
“I am fine” Sam says annoyed when Adaly suggests taking a break. Amara already continuing to the next chamber, Adaly rolls her eyes, but the party follows Amara into a room with a sarcophagus. Adaly inspects the sarcophagus and finds a trap she disables before giving the green light to Amara.
Amara pushes the lid of the sarcophagus, and it reveals one of the crystal keys. Amara grabs it and a ghostly figure starts to rise up. Something about the ghost terrifies Adaly. Adaly feels herself retreating while the ghost keeps attacking her friends. Amara’s halberd moves through the figure, but Adaly’s spells do seem to work, but she keeps missing.
Eventually they manage to kill it again, but not without a lot of damage done to the party. They decide to take a rest “I will sit in the other room, I need to check something” Sam says and Adaly stands up “Why? What’s wrong?” Adaly steps closer to him, looking concerned at him. Sam rubs his head “I just need to figure something out…” Adaly gently touches his shoulder “Sam, talk to me…” “Also we shouldn’t split up” Amara comments.
Sam sighs “Look I will just be on the other side of this door, if suddenly another ghost pops up, I will yell and you will be with me within seconds, I will be okay. Please I just need a second” Adaly hesitantly nods, and Sam leaves them. She keeps staring worriedly at the door, wondering if she should follow. “He knows what he is doing, you can trust him” Livia comments and Adaly rolls her eyes before going to sit next to Amara.
“Why didn’t you hook-up with her?” Amara asks pointing towards Livia, Adaly laughs “I tried, but she claims she is straight.” “So is spaghetti, till it gets wet.” Amara jokes and Adaly starts laughing, while Livia gives them the stink eye, which just makes Adaly and Amara laugh even more. Adaly appreciates her friend, helping to distract her from worrying about Sam.
After about like half an hour Sam rushes in, angrily yelling “It is a fucking bomb”. Adaly jumps up, walks closer to him. “What?” Adaly whispers while Sam walks towards Livia “It is a fucking suicide mission, the amulet is a twilight bomb. The patient man send us to die.” Sam yells, and Livia also stands up, touching her amulet.
“How…. How do you know?” Adaly says, she goes to stand between Livia and Sam, worried he might do something dumb. “Ever since Grishbalan I have been researching twilight bombs. It would be a solution to a personal problem.” Sam says throwing his notes on the floor, before continuing in Adaly’s head ‘To destroy the scarred silver used to create me’ Adaly swallows
Sam walks to the wall and hits it with his fist “Fucking fuck” Adaly takes a step towards him but Amara stops her “Let him be” “He needs support” Adaly says angrily but Livia goes to stand next to Amara “Just give him a second to unravel the rage”
Adaly hesitate, not knowing how to support him. She swallows and looks at Livia. “Let me enter the amulet again, getting as much information to Heskeni might make a difference” Adaly says and Livia nods, allowing her entry.
Adaly continues her notes, and once back grabs the ones Sam made before approaching him gently once more. “Heskeni can tell us the details, we will not let this be a suicide mission.” “You don’t understand, you…” Sam starts raging towards her but stops himself.
She swallows, touches his shoulder “I have been betrayed before. Send on suicide missions, but you know what the best way of dealing with that is…? Coming back alive. We are going to get you to the citadel and back.” Sam nods, and Livia looks grateful at her. “Let’s just continue, there is not that much we can do about this now anyway.” Sam says, grabbing his stuff.
Adaly wants to comfort him more, but doesn’t know how, she just observes him while they continue to walk through the Leviathan.
